I kinda miss him in anime, but seeing how busy he is now, you can understand why he can't make time for it (anime is a devious process). @Shaun Ince @huzaifa_ahmed I needed to be more specific. It's really not hard to see why he became on the major breakout VA's of the decade thanks to his performances as Joel in The Last of Us and Booker De Witt in Bioshock Infinite.
What I meant is that ADR work is an insanely long and complex process. Seriously he's now taken over the title of the leading man in video games from Nolan North, seriously he's now voicing in all of the new sequels to already pre-established titles. What's even more crazier is all of his roles with both Marvel and DC. S., Hawkeye, Nova, Deadpool Kid, Steeljaw, Jetfire, Jazz, Kickback, Zeta Prime, Joel, Booker De Witt and The Boss.
Auditioned for the role of Kyoya Otori in Ouran High School Host Club and would've got the role, but due to a busy schedule he was unable to work on the show. Second, wait for me and Nolan North to die." (on Kanji from Persona 4) "Kanji is far and away one of the most intriguing characters I've ever played.
Says Tatum did a better job than he ever could've done.(at the 2015 Game Awards) "People always ask me how to get into acting in video games. First, buy a microphone, and get a lot of practice with it.
People assume because he stopped dubbing anime & moved to doing high budget video games he's become union only when there isn't really anything to suggest that.
I've seen this argument being brought up about Travis Willingham & Laura Bailey as well.
He started with commercial work, got scouted by Christopher R.I do wonder how this speculation got started, because I find it rather puzzling. This man has gone on to being such a marvelous presence in the voice acting realm, with a really diverse range to boot; he can portray the likes of total jerkwads, deadpan snarkers, large hams, stoics, the comic relief archetype, characters whom obfuscate stupidity, flat-out villains, nice guys, and then some.I think the High Moon Transformers games are some of the best showings of Troy's range. Definitely one of the best VAs of this decade and possibly of all-time. My top 10 favourite roles of his are: 1.) Excalibur (Soul Eater) 2.) Greed/"Greeling" (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) 3.) Schneizel el Britannia (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) 4.) Steeljaw (Transformers: Robots In Disguise) 5.) Batman/Bruce Wayne (Lego Batman/Batman: The Telltale Series) 6.) Loki (Avengers Assemble/Ultimate Spider-Man) 7.) Van Kliess (Generator Rex) 8.) Zuuma (The Slayers) 9.) Whirlwind (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes) 10.) Zeta Prime (Transformers: War For Cybertron) It was pretty cool to hear Troy voice Hawkman in Justice League Action in the past year. I honestly feel a lot of the praise surrounding him is justified considering he's simply *that* good at what he does.He stepped down from his roles in Naruto and that's a union series. He's just at a point in his life where he wants and is able to prioritize other things, even outside of voice acting like mocap direction and [email protected] I've noticed that there's a common misconception when it comes to whether or not Troy is a union voice actor or not.
